www.IowaFloodCandles.com is the web home of SoyaWax International's fundraising campaign to help itself and other flood-affected Cedar Rapids area small businesses. Although its web platform is rudimentary so far, our intent is to create an engaging and sales-multiplying fundraising "engine" that taps into social network and game-playing dynamics.

100% of all profits from sales of IowaFloodCandles.com is split between eastern Iowa small businesses. 50% of profit goes to our small business and self-employed resellers, 14% of profits go to The Cedar Rapids Small Business Recovery Group, and 36% of profits go to SoyaWax International.

We have also launched a second fundraising campaign in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.MDA.org). This campaign is an all direct-sales web fundraiser. A full 50% of profit (the reseller's portion) goes directly to MDA to support its important work helping Jerry's Kids and all people afflicted with debilitating muscular diseases. The remaining profit goes 14% to the Cedar Rapids Small Business Recovery Group and 34% to SoyaWax International.

Like so many eastern Iowa small businesses, the historic flood of 2008 has taken a massive toll on our business and it will be years before we and our fellow small businesses are fully recovered. To help speed up that process, we have gone "back to our roots" in candlemaking to do what we can to help ourselves and our community.
